Entries still open for Luminate Poetry Slam 2013

Following its huge success at the inaugural Luminate in 2012, the Luminate Poetry Slam will be back once again at the Ghillie Dhú, Rutland Place, Edinburgh on Sunday 13 October 2013, in association with Inky Fingers. The competition is now open for entries and tickets for the event are now on sale.

As part of our month-long festival for audiences of all ages highlighting arts activities with, by and for older people, the Luminate Slam will celebrate Scotland’s unstoppable poetry scene. The evening will be compered by Jenny Lindsay, winner of the 2012 BBC Slam and one of the vibrant and versatile duo Rally and Broad. The judges will be Eleanor Livingstone, Director of StAnza Poetry Festival; Peggy Hughes, Programme Director of the Dundee Literary Festival and Michael Pedersen of Neu! Reekie! renown. The evening will also feature a guest performance by acclaimed poet Hollie McNish.

Slam veterans know to expect any style and any subject from hilarious to heart-rending, political to philosophical and everything around and in between. Poets compete for a potential place in the final and a well-earned prize.

To enter, contact Inky Fingers by email at inkyfingersedinburgh@gmail.com by 5pm on Friday 13 September 2013, with your contact details and ‘Luminate Slam Entry’ in the subject line.
