The Luminate Poetry Slam is back in 2014!

Following its huge success in 2012 and 2013, the Luminate Poetry Slam will be back again this year at Ghillie Dhu, 2 Rutland Place, Edinburgh, EH1 2AD at 7.30pm on Sunday 12 October.

Entries for the Slam are now open and, for poets new to performing, we are holding a Slam Poetry Workshop at The Counting House, 36 West Nicolson Street, Edinburgh, EH8 9DD on Sunday 7 September.

The hugely popular Luminate Slam celebrates Scotland's unstoppable poetry scene. This year's judges are Edinburgh's newly elected Makar Christine de Luca, doyenne of Scots poetry Sheila Templeton and Miko Berry, the reigning Scottish Slam champion, who will also be our guest performer.

If you'd like to take part but there's something holding you back - nerves, perhaps, or you might be completely new to slamming - the Luminate Slam Poetry Workshop on Sunday 7 September will help you hone your skills and build your confidence. The workshop will be led by poets and Luminate Slam organisers Rachel McCrum and Anne Connolly.

Spaces on this FREE workshop are strictly first-come-first-served. Booking is essential to poetryslam@luminatescotland.org. More details will be provided once booking is confirmed.

Contestants for the Luminate Slam should apply by email to poetryslam@luminatescotland.org by Monday 22 September. There will also be two wildcard entries on the night and generous prizes for the winners!

Tickets for the Luminate Slam are priced at £4/£3 and on sale via the Traverse Theatre Box Office, 10 Cambridge Street, Edinburgh, EH1 2ED, 0131 228 1404 or www.traverse.co.uk.

Find out more about the event and see who's going on Facebook.

The full programme for Luminate 2014 will be available online at www.luminatescotland.org in late August.
