We are inviting expressions of interest in this Dementia and Imagination training day which will be delivered in partnership with Equal Arts.

We have 15 paid places available for Scotland-based artists with experience of working in creative ageing contexts and who would like to increase their confidence in working with older people, and those living with dementia, in care settings. You will ideally have professional experience in leading or assisting with creative activities for older people and those living with dementia or have supported people living with dementia in a professional or personal capacity.

What’s involved

The training day will take place at Easterbrook Hall in Dumfries on Thursday 22nd February 2024, running from 11am to 4pm.

During the session, we will explore the importance of Dementia and Imagination approaches, using multi-sensory activities and Relationship Centred Care in planning creative ageing activities. With a blend of practical and theory-based work, this will also be an opportunity for personal reflection and learning from others to support your own work.

Bursaries

You will receive a £50 bursary for your participation, and travel expenses.

Application process

Luminate welcomes applications from all sections of our community. We recognise that there are barriers to working in the arts and that these challenges are experienced more acutely by some people. We are committed to increasing the diversity of artists working in our sector and especially welcome applications from those who identify as having characteristics currently under-represented in our sector. This includes people with protected characteristics as defined by the Equality Act 2010 across age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.
