Catherine Macleod Printmaking

Catherine moved to Scotland from Australia in 2018 and was born in a small mission village in Papua New Guinea. Her style is influenced by her Pacific Islander heritage and her husband’s Scottish culture. She now lives in Dingwall.

She used her bursary to study relief printing at the Highland Print Studio in Inverness. She studied three technical styles of relief printing: woodcut, linocut and, finally, an eight colour reduction lino print. She learnt how to use, set up and maintain a printing press; the different textures and tools for working with wood or lino; and how to layer, set up registration and what to expect from a multiple print run.
