David Slater is a freelance theatre maker with over forty-five years’ experience in making theatre with older people and communities. In the 1980s he undertook an informal five-year apprenticeship with a riotous company of south London older women (in their 80s and 90s), self-styled as ‘the Bermondsey Girls’.
In the 1990s David co-founded the pioneering participatory arts company Entelechy Arts. Based within the diverse neighbourhoods of Lewisham, south London, the company creates exciting and challenging art that is forged from the collision of different worlds and life experiences. David’s work has been enriched by working internationally in partnership with companies of older people in Brazil, Japan and the United States.
David believes that creativity and the arts have a vital role to play within our communities as we age.
