Lesley Wilson Playwright

Lesley is a Perthshire based playwright whose creative work is influenced by her earlier careers in social work and counselling. That work was driven by the same curiosity that drives her writing i.e., who we are, where we come from, what makes us tick and a strong desire to support people to be seen, heard and understood in the world.

Lesley has been a writer in residence at Rivendell Care Home since 2017 and is an Associate Artist with Aiseirigh; Hear and Now (SEALL’s Culture Collective in Skye and Lochalsh). In her work in care homes and in community settings she collaborates with older people, supporting them to find new and engaging ways of creating and telling stories. The importance of this work is often more about the process of sharing stories with someone than a measurable outcome, however as a writer Lesley values the written and spoken word and often supports the creation of something that can be shared within the wider community, either in a play or with readings at local festivals. To date these have included productions and readings at Birnam Arts Centre, Perth Theatre and Birnam Book Festival.

Lesley’s theatre productions include: A Woman, A Crow, A Giant, and A Field, WIRED, In Her Own Words and And Another Thing. At present she is collaborating with two Skye based artists on a new musical inspired by stories shared through the Aiseirigh; Hear and Now project.
