Lu Kemp is an award-winning theatre director and dramaturg, and Artistic Director of Perth Theatre. She is proud to be springboarding a change in national thinking around ageing.
Lu has a particular interest in creating work with older people, about ageing in Britain. She is an Associate Artist with Inspector Sands, with whom she created The Lounge – a performance about the British care system, later adapted for a Swedish audience by Sweden’s National Theatre.
With Artangel, she created Have Your Circumstances Changed? with a group of older men from Islington, exploring the gap in social provision for older men after retirement.
Lu was a speaker on the panel discussion Old Age is for the Brave at the Women of the World Festival, Southbank Centre.
She trained at Lecoq, Paris, and with Anne Bogart’s SITI Company, New York.
