Mural Art with Haleh Jamali

Mural Art with Haleh Jamali – Putting pen to paper to try creative writing, storytelling and spoken word techniques.

What to expect: The mural workshop series is specifically designed for people that want to try out something new, express themselves through art and learn how to create mural art – no prior experience required.

The effects of the restrictions introduced in social care during 2020 in response to COVID-19 was substantial. The social distancing made us think about the external boundaries of our bodies. What constitutes a safe distance when it comes to the spread of COVID-19? One meter or two? This project will help participants to process these topics and be able to create their own interpretations by creating collaborative large scale murals experimenting with various painting and collage techniques.

Each part of the final piece can be inspired by a personal memory or symbolic tale and could express personal views on themes such as borders, distance, anxiety, safety, mortality and memory.

About Haleh: Haleh Jamali is a Glasgow based multimedia artist and arts tutor. Her artistic practice expands from drawing, painting, sculpture, animation, print-making, mural painting, photography to video-making.

Her interest in portraiture and narrative stems from a desire to address the social aspects of representation, particularly in relation to the female gender and with a concern for the hidden layers beneath that which is visible. Her works have appeared in various solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally. She has extensive experience in painting murals and running painting mural workshops throughout her career.
