Jj Fadaka is a writer and artist based in Edinburgh. Their spaces, on and off the page, draw on black feminist traditions to play and imagine with community groups. You can find them facilitating world-building workshops and juicy conversations. They find belonging in making learning spaces, soundscapes, visual and performance art.
Jj’s socially-engaged practice uses storytelling and art-making to uncover political and personal demands. They focus on facilitating groups to make work that needs no translation, where everyone can reflect on their unique contribution to a vision of the future.
Jj reads and performs work across Scotland. They featured as Poet in Residence for the 2023 StAnza International Poetry Festival and that same year released their first poetry zine, ‘3 Days in Community’. Their essay ‘The Revolt and Revolting’ for the ‘Queer in a Wee Place’ anthology was published in April 2026 (Bloomsbury Academic). Their debut dance theatre show, The Masquerade, comes to the 2026 Edinburgh Fringe as part of the Made in Scotland Showcase.
