Come and sing online
Join us for a national online singing event that is dementia-inclusive and features a mix of uplifting songs from our Travel These Ways song collection.
Booking for Come and Sing Online on Saturday, 27th March, on is open here.
Hundreds of people across Scotland and beyond have already ordered our Travel These Ways: songs to sing at home resource pack or accessed it online and used the song lyrics, backing tracks and films to sing at home.
Now, choir leader Stephen Deazley, who helped create the singing pack, will lead this one-off, live event so that individuals, families, friends, choirs and singing groups can come together to sing the songs featured in the resource with others.
We’ll be singing Travel These Ways and Rise Up, both songs written especially for this project by award-winning musician Karine Polwart, as well as some well-known classics.
If you haven’t discovered the resource pack yet, you can access the lyrics, backing tracks and films in advance of the event either online here, or by ordering a printed copy here.
“The event will be fun, and very relaxed”, said Stephen. “The focus of this project has always been to support as many people as possible to sing at home, particularly those living with dementia who may have found group activities online more difficult.
“We’ve learnt a lot over the past year about how online events can be welcoming and as inclusive as possible. If you’ve enjoyed singing at home and would like to try a group singing event, please do sign up and give it a go! This is an event for everyone who enjoys singing to connect with others and be part of a community of singers.”
Come and Sing Online is part of a programme of events run by Luminate’s Dementia Inclusive Singing Network, which aims to widen singing opportunities for people living with dementia across Scotland.
The Network is funded by the Life Changes Trust and the Baring Foundation and run in partnership with Making Music, Scottish Care and Age Scotland.
