Carla is a visual artist and creative producer with a rich and varied background in cultural development. Since 2004, she has been instrumental in fostering creative practice and building connections between freelance practitioners and communities across Northeast Scotland.

Much of this work has been delivered through previous roles within the local government Arts team, cultivating strong partnerships with Health and Social Care professionals and third sector cultural organisations. With an emphasis on creative thinking and activity to support wellbeing, her work has included programmes for carers, residents in supported accommodation and people living with dementia. These programmes looked to bring colour, richness, and a sense of renewal to lives that can be overshadowed by responsibility or dependency.

In 2024, Carla completed an MA in Fine Art after returning to part-time education as a mature student. Since then, she has been developing a research-led visual art practice that explores stories rooted in objects, places, and people – reframing heritage through a contemporary lens. As a re-emerging older artist, with an earlier career in theatre design, Carla is embracing this new chapter with curiosity and joy, actively seeking out fresh creative possibilities.
