Claire has held a wide range of roles in Scotland’s third and public sectors for over 40 years. This included 12 years as Chief Executive of the national charity  Voluntary Health Scotland. In 2021 the Faculty of Public Health elected her a life-long Honorary Member, for services to public health. She was a founder member of Arts Culture Health and Wellbeing Scotland, and has long-standing experience in governance. Past trustee roles have included Benchtours Theatre Company and North Edinburgh Arts. 

Since retiring to care full-time for her husband, she has used her experience to work actively with Parkinson’s UK, NHS clinicians and researchers to campaign about the unmet needs of people affected by Parkinson’s related dementias and the challenges they and their caregivers face.

Claire is an active member of her local community in South Edinburgh, as a Trustee of Bridgend Farmhouse and Treasurer of Friends of Inch Park. She is a keen allotmenteer at Bridgend Allotments. She is a Member of Edinburgh Printmakers and an ongoing student at Leith School of Art.
