Maureen Crosbie graduated from the Fine Art department of the Glasgow School of Art in 1983 and went on to teach art across primary, secondary, and additional needs settings for many years. Developing a passion for leaded glass, she established Gallus Glass, working from her garden studio in Kirriemuir, Angus.
Living in a close-knit community, Maureen became deeply involved in public art projects, creating mosaics, stained glass windows, and other visual artworks in collaboration with local groups — including a member centre supporting people living with dementia. Her more recent work has involved liaising with partner centres across England and Wales on projects exploring the connections between art and ageing.
Reflecting on her experience, Maureen says, “It has been a great privilege to work with Luminate on the Forfar Creative Ageing Residency. Three very different projects, with different outcomes — all thought-provoking and inspiring.”
