Tonia joined Luminate in September 2025, returning to Scotland after working in Cumbria and Cornwall, where she led projects that supported artists while bringing communities together.
She holds a PhD in Cultural Policy from the University of Glasgow, and has worked on festivals and artist development in Dumfries & Galloway before leading projects working with older LGBT people in Cumbria. Before Luminate, Tonia spent several years supporting artists and cultural organisations in Cornwall as part of Creative Kernow. She has led significant projects that put creativity at the heart of economic and social development.
Tonia is passionate about everyone’s rights to creativity and believes in its power in strengthening communities, building connections and bringing fulfilment.
