Welcome to four new Board members
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Naghat Ahmed, Carla Angus, Claire Stevens and Dr Euan Winton to our Board.
Naghat Ahmed’s current role at Glasgow City Council includes corporate policy, programme and project management. She previously worked for the Commission for Racial Equality and NHS24, specialising in equality and diversity. Since 2018, Naghat has held public appointments with the Mobility and Access Committee for Scotland and Care Inspectorate.
Carla Angus is a visual artist and creative producer. Since 2004, she has supported creative practice and built connections between freelance practitioners and communities across Northeast Scotland. In 2024, Carla completed an MA in Fine Art after returning to part-time education as a mature student.
Claire Stevens has held a wide range of roles in Scotland’s third and public sectors for over 40 years. This included 12 years as Chief Executive of the national charity Voluntary Health Scotland. She is an active member of her local community in South Edinburgh, as a Trustee of Bridgend Farmhouse and Treasurer of Friends of Inch Park.
Dr Euan Winton is Associate Professor of Design at Heriot-Watt University. He has 30 years of experience of academic and professional practice. His work aims to empower people to transform their lived experiences and situations. Current projects include the Design HOPES initiative and the CONSOLIDATE network.
Naghat, Carla, Claire and Euan will be joining Luminate’s current Board members: Gillian Hailstones, Jackie Howie, Preetha Nirmala, Iain Ross, David Slater and Anna Stapleton (Chair).

Their expertise will provide strategic leadership and help us to inspire, support and develop creative ageing practice across Scotland.”
