Forfar creative ageing residency
Artist-in-resident project in Angus
A display of artworks created by older people from the Forfar area will go on display for a limited time at Forfar Library this month (March 2026).
From Wednesday 18th to Saturday 21st March, visitors to the library can view paintings, prints, mosaics, a community banner and other artworks created by members of the local community.
Maureen Crosbie has been the artist-in-residence, collaborating with groups at Forfar Library’s Lend & Mend Hub, Lochside Connections Dementia Meeting Centre and the Deirdre Knight Day Centre.
Older people at all three venues took part in weekly workshops with Maureen that ran for four weeks in February and March. No previous art experience was required and participants were able to develop their creative skills across a range of different techniques.
The exhibition showcases the newly created artworks, providing an opportunity for those who took part to share what they’ve produced with the local community.
The workshops and exhibition have been led by Luminate, Scotland’s creative ageing organisation, in partnership with ANGUSalive, Angus Health & Social Care Partnership and Voluntary Action Angus.
Artist Maureen Crosbie said: “It has been a great privilege to work with Luminate on the Forfar Creative Ageing Residency. Three very different projects, with different outcomes — all thought-provoking and inspiring.”
