Forfar creative ageing residency

In February and March 2026, visual artist Maureen Crosbie collaborated with older people in Forfar on an artist residency programme in the town.

Groups at Forfar Library, Lochside Connections Dementia Meeting Centre and the Deirdre Knight Day Centre took part in weekly creative workshops including textiles, printmaking and mosaic making.

This project kick-starts Luminate’s two-year creative ageing programme in Angus, and was run in partnership with ANGUSalive, Angus Health & Social Care Partnership and Voluntary Action Angus.

Through artist-led creative activities, the ambition was to produce high quality, meaningful work in collaboration with older people, inspired and shaped by aspirations and by what matters to them.

Through this process, we hope the sessions contributed to participants’ sense of purpose and fulfilment, social connectedness and wellbeing.

A celebratory sharing of work took place at Forfar Library from 18th – 21st March.
